Hello again! I missed yesterday’s challenge “Routine,” and to be honest these are older photos… I’ve been busy with life outside of art, ok? However, I felt like these photos of my family’s dog, Pearl, fit the theme since she always waits by the side door for my mom to come back inside.
Day 7’s theme is “Changes To Come,” and while I know that I’ll be at college in August, that I’ll start classes, meet new people, and see new things beyond that I really don’t know what’s going to happen. It may sound like I have plans for the future, but let’s face it – how many of us actually know what’s going to happen? I have no way of seeing into my future. So I’ll leave you with the oh-so-cliché warning to live every moment to the fullest, be a true friend, love your family, and enjoy the little things because you never know what changes are to come.
Today’s photo theme was “Something Green,” and while I honestly did explore the great outdoors for something that color, I just didn’t see anything that really caught my eye – except for this caterpillar. There are green trees in the background so that counts, right?
Well… I’m already a day behind on my photo challenge, but at least I have a bit of an excuse. Yesterday’s theme was “Clouds” and there were no interesting clouds to be found. I promise. Thankfully a storm blew through this evening and I was able to take a few photos before the rain started falling. So here you go, lovelys, a photo of clouds.
Until tomorrow ~
Hello again! Here are some of my sketchbook studies for a project. I enrolled in a digital painting class called “The Magic Box,” which was created by the very talented people with The Oatley Academy, and I thought I’d share my work so far. The first assignment was to redo an old painting but with a funny animal instead of a person as the model. I chose to pose a rabbit in Rembrandt’s “Saskia in Pompous Dress” since the feather reminded me of rabbit ears. Any critique is greatly appreciated!
Today’s photo theme was “What You Wore,” and I have to admit that after a busy day the last thing I wanted to do was figure out an interesting way to display my outfit. So instead I shared my adorable dinosaur earrings because why not? It’s annoying having a nicer camera (Nikon D3300), but not knowing how to take good photos… Live and learn I suppose.
Hello again! It’s been quite a while since I last posted, but a Monday is the perfect day to start fresh, right? My Mondays always fall into one of two categories – either they’re horrible because I have to shift out of weekend mode and into work/school mode or they’re a way for me to kick off a productive week. This Monday is the latter, and I can’t wait to share my projects with you all. One of the projects is a 30 day photo challenge where I’ll post a photo with a different theme everyday. Today’s photo was a self-portrait, which is something I suck at. Give an awkward person who doesn’t know much about photography a camera and the results aren’t bound to be good. So instead of trying to pull off what I thought was a “cool” shot with dramatic lighting I decided to focus on trying to come up with a creative setting that described me as a person. Even though I still need to learn the basics of photography, I don’t want that to overshadow learning to create interesting shots that impress a feeling or idea. Without further ado, here is today’s challenge (and a few extras). Until next time!
One of the reasons I’m coming to enjoy photography more is because photos tell stories. Stories filled with turmoil, peace, love, and hate. Stories that move you. Yet, photos also capture the simple moments that go unnoticed. Photography gives me a way to explore these little moments and make them personal. After all, isn’t life mostly filled with these seemingly drab bits of time? Another of those oh-so-boring days happened earlier this week so I went for a walk to see if I could find something to take pictures of. Pumpkin, one of the cats that lives around my house, proved to be my victim.
Welcome to Happy Monday, a new series where I’ll post a piece of artwork or a photo to start off the week on the right foot. Also, this is creativeful’s first post! It’s been an idea of mine to start an art blog, and after three months of telling myself to create one I finally have. Maybe it was the New Year… Either way, I hope you enjoy this reminder from Leonardo da Vinci about simplicity.
